What a wonderful turnout we had yesterday at the Park City Reunion! There must have been 50 or 60 people attending. We had a few from the Burlington Street Kids as well as the Park City group. We are so happy that they joined us and hope they will return.
Our next reunion is tentatively set for Saturday, April 7th. We will meet at Shoneys on Broadway in Knoxville from 1 pm to 4 pm. This was not discussed until last minute and a few were already gone so hopefully they will read this.
Then in June (date not yet set) we are having a delightful event!! John Stancil came to the reunion yesterday and he said we could have a cookout at PARK JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL and then take a tour down memory lane of the building itself!! Most of us went to Park Jr then some went to East HS and some went to Fulton HS but we all have Park Jr in common! When I send out the cards for this event I need for you to let me know if you are attending so that we will have enough food but not too much.
This group has really grown and we all enjoy it so much! I have found so many friends from long ago. For instance, Doug Dotson, who lived two doors up from me on Jefferson Avenue when I first moved to Tennessee. Then there is Tommie Young who was such a good friend and I had wondered so often where he is. Also Cathy Smiddy Poore, Edna Goforth Cole, Brenda Taylor, Diane Burnette Riggs and so many more.
Carl Hutchison and Roger Cox started this and it has been so great getting to know them again and getting to see Carl's wife, Brenda, who was friends with me way back when. There is Frank Wilson and Jack Ridenour and Hollis Pollard and the names go on and on. Lots of people that I didn't know before but now are friends.
And the Burlington Street Kids, I went to their get together in November and walked in without knowing anyone have met a lot of them now such as Bob Foster, Carol Larson, and Sharon Beard Simpson, so good to have met you. (Sharon and I have become good friends).
So if you grew up anywhere in the area of Park City, Burlington, The Fourth Avenue District and even Happy Holler, we would love to have you attend.
Check back often for updates of the next dates of the reunion and especially the Park Junior High School one!
The Park City Reunion meets approximately every four months and everyone always seem to have a great time. Come and see for yourself!!
The Park City Reunion is a meeting of baby-boomers who grew up in the Park City and surrounding area of Knoxville, Tennessee. A lot of friends are meeting after lots of years of no contact. If you are from the Park City area or anywhere near there you are welcome to come. You just never know who you might run into!! Come and join the fun!
